Me I Want a Hoo-Lee-Hoop
My FaceBook Song of the Day a few Saturdays ago was “The Chipmunk Christmas Song.”
Back in the day the kids sang this in the school Christmas extravaganza. My boy let his line rip, “Me I want a hoo-lee-hoop!” He had on the sweater letter jacket with the “A,” wore the little glasses, (we meshed Alvin and Simon into one there) and hit it dead on pitch in a perfect chipmunk imitation. It brought the house down.
Don’t tell his buddies; he’s a genuine tough guy now.
All I can say is ALLLLLVVIIIIIIN!

Golly Dr B,
You and I remember playing that song on the record player – I had the 45 of it and got the album for Christmas. It disappeared for a couple of weeks – my Mom said it had to cool off for a while. A remarkable similarity to when I first took banjo lessons – hours of practicing rolls and licks got to the wife once in a while.
Best holiday wishes to you and your lovely better half and (mostly grown up) kids. Hope to cross paths again soon.

Ron,
Yeah, the kids ’bout drove everyone to drink with that thing, but the memories are so good.
All the best holiday to you guys, too. Here it’s ten degrees and gettin’ colder, so we might have to visit one of these winters.

Jel,
I have so many. For a religious one, “Silent Night.”
Secular: “White Christmas”
Novelty: “Chipmunk Christmas Song” since my boy did it. Also “Rudolph.” I like “Two Front Teeth” too.

Smitty,
I was gonna write Reed’s in the AM and ask about a stop there in January. Tell ’em I might not be Grisham, but if nothing else we’re gonna have fun wherever we go.
