Side-Kick Heaven (Riders in the Sky)

When I was a kid I wanted to be a cowboy.  I was Roy Rogers and the girl next door was Dale Evans.  We put on cowboy hats every day and rode around the neighborhood saying things like “Whoa, Nellie.” My bike was Trigger.

Today my “Song of the Day” on FaceBook is ‘Side-Kick Heaven. If you are smart enough to be a molecular biologist, brave enough to don a cowboy hat and chaps and take a three piece cowboy band on the road and thrive in the music business, and witty enough to make me laugh my a^^ off on the way back from the hospital at 3:00 AM, you could be ‘Riders in the Sky.’

When it’s time for the last round-up and the final gig is done, your name will be written in that diamond dusted book in the back room at the ranch, and you’ll a permanent spot on the rail to to lean on there in ‘Side Kick Heaven.’

        It’s the cowboy way.
