U.S.Open Wrap Up
My conclusion: Tiger Woods won the 2008 U.S. Open, but Rocco Mediate did not lose. What a performance by both players.

It was a pretty good match, I agree. (I managed to read two novels while my husband was watching.)

That’s exactly right – Tiger won, but Rocco didn’t lose. It was something to see…

mrschili,
One to remember- I believe it will go down as historic in golf circles. I have to watch the re-runs- I only caught snippets.

Tiger wins again. Mr. Chili and I had a bet from years ago. His guy was Tiger, mine was David Duval. Do you remember him? According to Mr. Chili, I owe him about 8 grand. Blah! I just checked, he still plays. He is currently ranked 240th. Awesome!

Auntie,
Oh sure I remember David Duval. He shot 59 in a tour event one time. Great player.
I always enjoyed his interviews. Duval loved to read, and was a bit of an intellectual type. I don’t know exactly what happened to his game, but I often wondered if ten million bucks later he began to wonder if all there was to life was a little white ball. Just my guess, I have no idea.
You know though, he is still a very good player. We have a fast group of players here, but if Duval were to show up at River Run and put the hammer down, he’d humiliate our best guys who talk all that junk about how good they are. The way those tour guys play is from a different planet.
The women are dang good too. Here is a 100% true story. Some time back I was on top of my game and got invited to play a course where the LPGA pros were gonna play in a few days. We played it from their tees, and played pretty good- shot 81. Those women came to town, and every dang one of them kicked my a@@. On opening day, the worst one was a grandmother, Laura Baugh, and she shot 79. The leader shot 64. So much for big shot doctor/golfer status- I knew I’d better hold on to my stethescope!
